For sale: "Bison bison – Tatanka", oil on canvas, 5ft x 7ft.
$9,500 (does not include shipping.)
This painting was in direct response to a photograph a friend had taken
of a bison near the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Badlands National
Park, South Dakota. The moment he shared his photo and story I was
imaging a large oil on canvas painting exhibiting it's powerful presence
– the National Mammal of the United States.
This piece can be seen at the Ivy Tech Community College,
Warsaw, IN. It is a visual reminder of the bison heritage and the State
of Indiana. Numbering in excess of 6 million in the past, the bison
migrated through Indiana creating what is now called the Buffalo Trace
trail. The bison is also included on the Indiana State Seal as a symbol
of westward expansion.
