Backyard Lily

sold
Backyard Lily, oil on canvas, 30" x 40"

The lily was sitting on the back patio table catching the sun rays (behind the lily you can see the back woods reflected in the glass patio sliding door.) I painted it using thin layers of paint in a very aggressive painterly approach. A lot of light action taking place throughout the composition.

Carlos Torano Virtuoso

sold
Carlos Torano Virtuoso
, oil on canvas panel, 8" x 10"

The cigar is/was a Carlos Torano Virtuoso Encore, 4.7 x 52, size. What intrigued me was the color of this Nicaraguan Colorado maduro shade wrapper which differs from a Brazilian or Connecticut wrapper. As I was working on it (the painting) I ended up removing the band to focus more on the leaf wrapper. As with the cigar I think I spent too much time on the glass ash tray.

Petunias

sold
Petunias
, oil on canvas board, 9 x 12"

Another painting a day. I had visited my in-laws near Cleveland and spotted this basket of Petunias in the driveway. The flowers, cast shadow, and contrasting light off the concrete was striking.

Conch Shell

Available
Conch Shell
, oil on canvas board, 12 x 16"

Slight shift on subject matter. I really enjoy the daily painters especially Clayton and Keiser. I picked this object from some shells laying around my studio. As the painting is a little larger than some daily painters it also took an extra day to complete.
