White Barn (Northern Indiana)

In between two other paintings, just finished, still on easel. “White Barn” oil on canvas, 18” x 24”. While sorting through some source images with an artist friend, a photo of this barn visually struck me because of its stoic, solemn appearance. I brought the barn forward, removed certain details, and used direct color brush marks, working towards a silent first impression presence. 

Not certain as to barn types/styles, I’m guessing this might be a ‘Bank and Basement Barn’ with cupola. (If anybody knows for sure, please message me.)

Northern Indiana Barn - A Series

Finally back on line! Yes, have been away on an overly long hiatus (multiple projects have consumed my time.)

I'm beginning a new painting series, titled 'A Northern Indiana Barn.' I thought I'd post the progress, that way it would keep me on task! I'll be painting a number of works of the same image on 16" x 20" canvases, painting them with varied styles pulled from my other works. This 18" x 24" oil on canvas begins the series.
